In October 2019, our colleague and friend Daniel Fong from American University, Washington DC, came to Croatia for a three-week visit to study metabolic responses to wounding in the cave shrimp Troglocaris.
We took a field trip to Istria, where we enjoyed the great hospitality of our host Silvio Legović from Baredine Caves.
A week later we stayed at the RBI's Martinska research station near Šibenik, where Dr. Neven Cukrov, Laboratory for Physical Chemistry of Traces, provided us with the laboratory space and equipment for our field experiments.
Being good hosts, we made sure that our American friend had ample opportunity to enjoy local culinary delicacies and folk customs.
