At the beginning of September, we went on our group's annual field trip to the southern parts of Croatia. This year we were happy to be accompanied by our guest colleagues from Rink’s Department of Tissue Dynamics and Regeneration from Max Planck Institute, Gӧttingen.
We started off the field trip in Zagreb in the best way possible – get-to-know dinner and meeting of the lab members from both groups. Next morning, we set off to the south, stopping at important cave and surface sampling sites along the way. After each long day of turning rocks and hunting planaria and crustaceans, in the evenings we would all get together for a dinner cookout under the starry sky, show-off of that day’s catch and exchange of scientific ideas. A sampling of homemade wine and rakija was obligatory . This was a very successful field trip, both in terms of animals collected and fun times spent with Rink’s group. We can’t wait to have you in Croatia again!
